In Sault Ste. Marie, a Lake Superior State University student started a food pantry at a local high school to serve those students who would otherwise go hungry. Even though there are programs to feed families and individuals, some fall through the cracks because of age or income requirements.
She used funds gathered through a grant writing class she took this past summer. Thanks to those funds and the support of different groups and individuals in the community, her project is a success!

Hats and Scarves for Charity
When family members had enough of crocheted hats, Anna did not stop making them, she just donated them to charity. She has been crocheting for the past 50 years, even though she did take a break. Then, less than a year ago she began her production again to benefit the less fortunate children. In return, donors surprise her with yarn she can use for her creations.
Many wishes to Anna for a very productive year!

Miracle in the Air
2013 is over and a brand new year has begun.
As I was searching for the first story of 2014, I came across this article. It is from Dec. 8, 2013 but I could not pass it by.
The story is about a 6 months old baby girl who almost died on a flight bound for Puerto Rico.
It was not her time to go though as, thanks to the skills and direction of a first responder and a nurse - both on the same flight - and the help of some passengers, the child was kept alive and they were able to safely land and transport her to the hospital. It was indeed a miracle in the air.
Best wishes to this little girl for a long life and best wishes to those individuals who stepped in and saved her life.
